Migratory lids allow beekeepers to place hives closer together, either to transport them or palletize them. Designed to be used by them selves, without an inner cover. A 1/4″ strip under the lid allows for bee space above the frames (3/8″) so the bees do not propolis the lid to the top bar. Especially important if using a frame feeder. 10 Frame Size
Our lids are made with glued tongue and groove joints using non toxic, Titebond 3 exterior glue, stainless steel screws, and Ohio White pine, assembled by a local Amish family.
*Pro Tip – Only paint the parts exposed to the weather.
*If used during the summer, you can increase ventilation by placing a couple of shims the size of popsicle sticks on the front or back just under the lid. Pennies also work great. It allows a great deal of air flow without letting robbers get into the hive. Not too much though or Small Hive Beetles can squeeze though.
